Summary

Today in Ukraine there is a period of transformation of social life, which is manifested in the rethinking of ideals and educational guidelines. In Ukrainian society of the early XXI century. the processes of democratization initiated in the last century are taking place aimed at the development of civil society. It is these trends that lead to changes in priorities in social policy aimed at solving the problems of spiritual and moral education of the younger generation and the activities of social institutions. Traditionally, this issue was handled by two institutes – family and school. However, an important role in the implementation of spiritual and moral education of the younger generation is played by spiritual, in particular religious principles built on the principles of Christian morality. In the process of historical development, it is difficult to underestimate the role of Christianity. The Christian Church was a uniting foundation, the center of culture, education and spirituality. The article focuses on the study of socio-economic, cultural and pedagogical conditions in which the child grew and developed. A historical and pedagogical analysis of the essence and content of Christian education has been made. The peculiarities of the use of the Christian religion in the upbringing of children have been identified and determined. It is proved that with the transition of Ukraine to a democratic state system in the education system, the trends of educating the younger generation on Christian cultural traditions are spreading. Today actualizes the use of religious values in shaping the worldview of the younger generation. A significant interest in the organization of domestic religious education is the study and use of the best achievements of religious education systems. The ways of using the educational potential of religion in the pedagogical process, namely the spiritual and moral education of young people as one of the main links in the formation of a new generation of society, have been established.
