Review Policy

The editorial board of the scientific journal “Volynskyi Blahovisnyk” adheres to a double-blind review policy in accordance with international standards and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The goal of review is to improve the quality of scientific articles published in the journal by evaluating the materials by highly qualified experts.

The review procedure is anonymous for both the reviewer and the authors and is carried out by independent reviewers (“blind” review).

All reviewers must comply with the requirements for ethics in scientific publications and be objective and unbiased.

Scientific articles that are designed in strict accordance with the “Formatting requirements” and have passed the initial control by the editorial office are allowed for review.

The editorial board of the publication ensures the removal of any identifying data of the authors from the manuscript, including the name, institution, biographical information and other information that may reveal authorship.

The coded article is sent by e-mail to the member of the editorial board responsible for the scientific direction of the article content.

Reviewer selection criteria: expertise in the topic of the article; absence of conflict of interest; recommended number of reviewers: at least two, if necessary – three.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript according to the following main criteria: scientific novelty; logic and consistency of presentation; methodological correctness of the study; reliability of the results and validity of the conclusions; compliance with ethical standards of research; quality of the material design.

The member of the editorial board who received the coded article fills out a standard form and chooses one of the recommendation options – accept for publication without changes; accept with minor corrections; return to the author for significant revision with the possibility of re-consideration; reject the publication.

In case of refusal or the need for revision, the reviewer must provide a written reasoned explanation of the reasons for such a decision.

The deadline for preparing recommendations is within three weeks from the moment of receiving the article.

The reviewers’ recommendations are sent by e-mail to the executive secretary.

The final decision on the article is made at a meeting of the editorial board. The decision is made taking into account the reviews received.

Articles that have passed all stages of review and editorial processing are included in the next issue of the publication.

The final layout of the issue is signed by the editor-in-chief and recommended for publication by decision of the Academic Council of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy.

The editorial decision is sent to the author(s). Articles subject to revision are sent to the author(s) together with the text of the review containing specific recommendations for the revision of the article. The anonymity of reviewers is guaranteed by the journal editorial board.

The revised version of the article is sent for re-review. In the event of a repeated negative review result, the article is rejected and is not subject to further consideration.

The editorial board does not enter into a discussion with the authors of rejected articles.
