Summary
The totality of the processes of socio-cultural, political, and spiritual searches of our time leads to the emergence of answers, among which the Eucharistic anthropology stands out. The article analyzes the theological and philosophical concept of Eucharistic anthropology of the contemporary Ukrainian theologian O. Filonenko. It is shown that the appeal to this area of Christian anthropology is due to a thorough analysis of the philosophical and theological heritage of the twentieth century. Among the redefined anthropological characteristics and dominants that are fundamental to Eucharistic anthropology are the gift, gratitude, encounter, rejoicing, thanksgiving, and vulnerability. In the proposed concept of the “Eucharistic person”, ecclesiology and anthropology are combined into a single whole. People, in their diversity, make up the one Body of Christ, the Church. It is in the Eucharist that what O. Filonenko describes as “an encounter with the Other (with God and man) that determines the ways of subjectification through the work of gratitude” takes place. In response to the call of God, praise and gratitude are born of necessity. Without the event of Christ, it is impossible to think of the iconic revelation of God the Father. Outside of Christian anthropology, it is impossible to think about gratitude, impossible to realize its place in ontological and anthropological interaction. The development of Eucharistic anthropology is of great importance in the formation of a new culture of presence in society. This culture is ready to overcome the perception of the Other as a Stranger, and it is based on the understanding of the culture of presence as an important practice within postmodern theology. In this context, Eucharistic anthropology proposes to change the way we perceive and relate to the Other by transforming the Stranger into the Other. It is no coincidence that this concept goes beyond theoretical theology and contributes to the formation of a culture that will help overcome alienation between people. Promising for further research will be the work of other contemporary Ukrainian Orthodox theologians with their peculiarities of methodological approach and specific emphasis on the problem areas and issues on which their attention is focused.
Key words: eucharistic anthropology, philosophy of the Other, culture of presence, gift, gratitude, encounter, gratitude, vulnerability.
