Summary

The article deals with the factors which started the transition from confrontation to dialogue between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches: depart from the traditional ecclesiastic and soteriological exclusivism of the Catholic Church, a critical evaluation of the union and unionism as a form and method of the amalgamation of Churches, establishment of structural instruments for a permanent interfaith ecumenical dialogue.
