Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The article is devoted to the pivotal event of the church life of Orthodox Volyn in the interwar period \u2013 the Lutsk Church Congress of 1927. An attempt is made to analyze the prerequisites for convening the meeting, the course of work and the scale of the decisions made, which directly influenced the further institutional development of the Orthodox Church in Poland. The interwar period of the 20th century was rich in initiatives in the diocesan governance of Volyn, when the Orthodox lands found themselves not only in new geopolitical conditions, as part of different states, but also church centers. In addition, the process of spiritual and national identification of Ukrainians changed the picture of church life. All these factors influenced the forms and efficiency of the work of diocesan authorities. Studies of the Ukrainization and democratization of diocesan administration bodies in the interwar period of the 20th century on the example of the Orthodox Volyn Diocese have not yet had their author. Until now, church historians have limited themselves to other topics, and the issues of the historical development of church administration bodies have been considered in passing. This topic not only provides a historical retrospective and answers to questions about the current state, but also provides positive experience of changes, indicates the prospects for reforms taking into account tradition. The article, using the example of the Lutsk Church Congress, explores the historical development of church administration; the evolution of diocesan administration bodies; determines the effectiveness of changes in the functions and work of diocesan administration; outlines Ukrainian traditions of church administration at the diocesan level, a return to ancient Ukrainian spiritual practices, services in the native language, and the activation of the religious and educational mission of the clergy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
